This past Saturday, I streamed your game. Overall, this game didn't really click with me too much.
The reason I decided to stream this game was because I was really impressed with the writing and mapping in your IGMC game, Faded Blue. I recently was editing my stream where I had played it, and out of curiosity I wanted to see if you had made any more progress on Faded Blue since there. I was disappointed 😢 So instead, I wanted to see what you had done in the past.
Heartland struck me with it's astounding mapping work, once again proving that you know how to make a good looking map! However, the writing was vague making it alienating to me. It felt like a story was being told but I wasn't allowed to be involved with it. The use of old English mixed with modern English only served to make the story even more unapproachable. I can't pass much judgement on the combat itself, as I set the combat difficult to be the easiest difficulty, which I think during my playthrough unfortunately skewed my perspective on the game's balancing.
I think this is a difficult game to enjoy. The best part is the mapping and I suppose a small part the music. I'm glad to see the improvements the dev has made in quality since the release of this game. I hope you'll continue working on Faded Blue!
